ACTIONS REGARDING PRODUCT SAFETY-PFAS

In October 2026 new perfluorocarbon compounds (PFHxA) will come into force, so we need to start eliminating these substances from our products.

  • Perfluorinated compounds (PFAs):

Fluorocarbon treatments are still very common in the textile industry, mainly because they provide both water and oil repellent properties. For some years now, they have been in the spotlight for being based on per- and polyfluoroalkyl compounds (PFAS), which are increasingly found to be problematic at the environmental and human healthy.

To minimise the presence of PFAS, taking into account that only water repellency will be provided – and not oil – you can opt for:

  • DWRs of the hyperbranched polymers type (branched polymers) or 100% synthetic acrylic derivatives.
  • Use partially bio-based water repellents (from renewable and natural raw materials).
  • Treatments with hydrophobic silicones.
